about

I’m a physiotherapist and business owner with over 25 years experience and while I trained as a physiotherapist I realised early on that I’m in the business of making people feel better. I’ve always had a strong interest in the commercial side of private practice and operating them in a profitable manner.

Having had early exposure to retail pharmacy, I developed an early appreciation for how customer service, customer communication, clinical ability and profitability all contribute to a long term and sustainable business.

I also learnt the value of measuring what you’re trying to manage. Defining key performance indicators, or KPI’s, to track the business’ critical success factors, including hiring and managing professional staff, customer service and pricing.

That means day in and day out I’m equally focused on the strategic direction of the business in addition to ensuring the team consistently delivers an outstanding patient outcomes and customer service.

Over the years I’ve seen many physiotherapists complete professional development courses which only look at clinical elements such as the latest rehabilitative techniques and therapies; and while there’s nothing wrong with that, I chose to spend an equal amount of time, attending courses on non-clinical aspects of running a business. That way I ensured that we would have an enterprise that was able to offer the best clinical expertise in the right environment, with the right therapists with the most relevant supporting therapies, and with an exceptional customer service experience.

I’m passionate about taking the physiotherapy profession from the cottage industry that it has been and giving it the commercial focus that it deserves. I feel that’s what our profession desperately needs and I am excited about how I can help you transform your business.

If you’re not happy with how your clinic is tracking, if your systems aren’t benchmarking the right metrics, if your salary is standard, or if you’re struggling to make a profit, then I can help you.

If you’re thinking of establishing your own clinic, I can help to ensure that you won’t make the same mistakes many of our colleagues have made when they were first setting up their private practice.

I am heavily involved with the Australian Physiotherapy Association, presenting at both state and national conferences and I’m the current chair of the Physiotherapy Business Association in Victoria.
